About me
Originally from Sydney, I graduated with a BA (Design) from Newcastle Uni then relocated to Australia’s cultural heart- Melbourne/ Naarm to immerse myself in all things creative from photography to millinery and illustration.
My creative journey eventually led to paper entomology and the idea of using something so small, beautiful and seemingly innocuous such as a hand drawn butterfly, to convey commentary on serious societal issues. Hints to the key messaging are subtly shared usually in the artwork title or sometimes the positioning or condition of the hand drawn insect.
The use of recycled and vintage materials are often reminiscent of fabrics, textures and colour palettes direct from my childhood. Creating a nostalgic longing- an escape to simpler times past while having the opportunity give new life to reused materials making the pieces truely ethical and sustainable. These materials, not only help to give a home to my creations but also hopefully cloak their messages in the warmth of nostaglia.
